Ken Curnow Shield – Six Bar Challenge

Teams of 4 riders over the 6 Bar D Grade and above only.
Clubs must nominate team before 12noon on the day to start at 1pm.
Any rider without a team can nominate to go into a mixed team.

Handymount

This will run throughout the day. Obstacle course for horse and rider. Three minute time limit to attempt as many obstacles as you can. No Led.
An example of obstacles to be attempted might include opening and shutting a gate from horseback, side-passing over a cavaletti pole, picking up an object from a 44-gallon drum and placing it on another whilst mounted, dismounting running over stepping stones and re-mounting,walking horse through steamers.

Riding Classes

Riding classes in individual age groups. BareBack and In Hand Horsemanship.
Ring 1: 13 and under 15yrs and Associates
Ring 2: U7Led and U7, 7 and under 9yrs, 11 and under 13yrs.
Ring 3: 9and under11yrs, 15and under 17yrs.
 
In-hand Horsemanship 
This is a led class judged on how the handler handles the horse. It is not a horse beauty/conformation class. Horse to be saddled (ready for ridden classes).
Criteria:
Handler leads horse around ring, anticlockwise.
  • When lined up, handlers to get their horse to stand still in line, on all four feet, front square, hind offsquare.
  • Workout – at judge’s discretion, but generally walking out of line, standing horse up, examination by judge, then a triangle workout – walk one side, trot the next and walk back to judge to halt when signalled.
  • Handler when running is to keep up with horse’s natural trot rhythm, without using horse’s mouth as a balancing aid for themselves.
  • Horse should walk when handler walks, trot when handler runs and not invade handler’s space.

U7 Led and U7, 7 and under 9 yrs, 9 and under 11yrs.
Keyhole, Apple and Straw, Bending, Trot Race
11and under 13yrs, 13 and under 15yrs, 15 and under 17yrs, Associates.
Straight Barrel Racing, Apple and Straw, Pony Twist, Bending, Square Yard Race.
 

Showjumping

AM7 All Grades Mini E, E, D, C, B, A, Assoc. No Led.
