CHLOE CONVERTS HARD WORK FOR BIG WIN AT WIRLINGA PONY CLUB ODE

CHLOE Hayden converted hard work into her first major one day event success as a record 135 pony club riders descended on the Wirlinga Pony Club’s annual event last Sunday.

Teaming with horse My Cyrano for just over a year, Chloe’s hard work on perfecting the pair’s timing over the crosscountry phase paid dividends with a win in the B grade and gave her the sweetest present just two days before her 16^th birthday.

Chloe and Cyrano beat Isobel Thomson of Wagga Bidgee Pony Club with Scott Troldahl of Leeton in third place.

It was her biggest win since taking a step up from pony mounts to her  clydesdale/quarterhorse/thoroughbred cross 16 hand mount just over a year ago.

With qualifying spots for the State ODE up for grabs, riders came from as far as Leeton, Griffith and Tumbarumba to take on more than 40 Wirlinga members and a strong gathering of riders from nearby clubs such as Jindera, Myrtleford and Corowa.
Wirlinga utilised their own grounds and the next door Albury Wodonga Equestrian Centre to accommodate six rings of dressage, two showjumping courses and crosscountry for 10 categories ranging from A grade associates to Mini E for beginners.
The state ODE, to be hosted by Wirlinga and the other zone 20 pony clubs, will be run at the same venue in October.
